# Roadmap

> These are improvements ClipCook could build. They are not a release plan and they do not have dates. Do not describe them as features of the app today.

Each one starts from something ClipCook already does: a recipe you can read, amounts stored as numbers, a book you can print, and a library that stays on the phone.

## In the kitchen

- Cooking mode would show a single step, keep the screen awake, and let you tick ingredients as they go in. Today a recipe is one scrolling page.
- Scaling servings would recalculate each amount when you change the number of people. Amounts are already numbers, but there is no control for this yet.
- A shopping list would merge ingredients from one cookbook, or a few recipes, into a single list. That does not exist yet.
- A timer on a step would start from text such as “bake for 25 minutes”. Today that number is ordinary text.
- Metric and imperial would show the same recipe in the other system. Today each amount keeps the unit it arrived with.

## Bringing a recipe in

- A normal recipe webpage, a blog post rather than a clip, is not an import path yet. Import today is a shared video, pasted text, a photo, or a recipe you type.
- A shorter review that asks only for missing amounts is not built. You can already paste a transcript or add photos, and any ingredient with no amount stays marked.

## Books and other devices

- Handing someone a cookbook as a ClipCook file, so another phone opens the same book, is not built. A PDF for paper already exists. There would still be no account and no server.
- Editing a book on iPad with the editor and the preview side by side is not built. The current editor is the phone flow.
- A Home Screen widget and Shortcuts are not built. The share sheet is how a link gets into the library today.
