# How ClipCook works

> Six short pieces on the path from a clip to a printed book. Each one explains what the app actually does with a video, a photo, a key or a cookbook.

- [Share a clip](https://clipcook.app/blog/share-a-clip.md): YouTube, TikTok, Instagram or Safari. ClipCook reads the public text. It does not download the video.
- [Apple Intelligence](https://clipcook.app/blog/apple-intelligence.md): On a compatible device there is no account and no key. Long text is split, then put back together for you to review.
- [Your own key](https://clipcook.app/blog/your-own-key.md): OpenAI, Claude, Gemini, or another API. The key stays on the phone. ClipCook never receives it.
- [A photo, a paragraph, or your own hand](https://clipcook.app/blog/photo-text-or-by-hand.md): Photograph a page, paste a transcript, or type the recipe with no model at all.
- [A printed cookbook](https://clipcook.app/blog/printed-cookbook.md): Sections, a cover, four layouts, and a PDF in A4, A5 or A6.
- [Where recipes live](https://clipcook.app/blog/where-recipes-live.md): No ClipCook account and no recipe server. iCloud keeps the library. Keys stay on the device.

For what might be built after this, see the [roadmap](https://clipcook.app/roadmap.md). Those items are ideas, not current features.
