# Apple Intelligence writes the recipe on the iPhone.

> On iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 16 and later, and on an iPad or Mac with Apple silicon, Apple Intelligence extracts ingredients and steps on the device. No account.

Published: 22 September 2026.

Apple Intelligence is the default. On iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 16 and later, and on an iPad or Mac with Apple silicon, the caption, the transcript and the text read from a photo are turned into a recipe on the device. There is no ClipCook account and no API key for this path.

A long caption does not go through in one piece. ClipCook splits it, extracts each part, and shows you one draft to edit. Servings, preparation time, cooking time, ingredients and steps come back as fields, not as a paragraph you have to parse.

## When the model is not ready yet

The first time Apple Intelligence is still downloading, Settings says so. Recipes waiting in the queue extract on their own when the model is ready. You can check again from Settings. If this iPhone cannot run it, the app points you to your own key, or you can type the recipe by hand.

The first launch walks through the same choice: on-device extraction when the phone can do it, and another provider when it cannot.
